Mission:
The activities of the group are devoted to the development of advanced methods
in scientific computing, mathematical modelling and numerical simulation of
complex phenomena in high-tech design, environment protection and computer
science. The group participates in the research and development as well as high
education of young experts in the engineering mathematics. The group makes part
of the Department of Mathematics. The collaboration is developed with the well
established universities and institutes worldwide as well as with industrial
corporations worldwide.
News and events:
- Participating in the Joint Meeting of the NZMS, AustMS and
AMS in Auckland, New Zealand, December 9-13, 2024, with the
Keynote Lecture by M. Beneš in Session 29 Mathematics of nonlinear diusion
processes.
- The collaboration with the Kanazawa University, Japan in the student exchange
continues by the stay of 2 bachelor, 2 master and 1 Ph.D. degree students in Applied
Mathematics, spending a part of the winter semester 2024-25 in the Department of
Mathematics. The students are accompanied by Prof. Masato Kimura,
Prof. Hirofumi Notsu and Prof. Koya Sakakibara. Further expansion of
common actvities in research and education is planned.

The 11th International Conference on Multiscale Materials Modeling
on September 22-27, 2024 in Prague

New collaboration has been established during the stay of M. Beneš on
invitation at the Universidad de Santiago de
Chile, Departamento de Ingeniería Mecánica, Facultad de Ingeniería in the domain of free
boundary problems in computational fluid mechanics. The invited
lectures were given on Mathematical Modeling: Results and Challenges,
Modeling Soil Freezing and Thawing, Modeling Operation and
Ageing of LiIon Cells
- The collaboration with the Kanazawa University, Japan in the student exchange
continues by the stay of our Ph.D. degree student Maneesh Narayanan, M.Sc. spending a part of summer semester
2023-24 at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of the Kanazawa University.

Participating in 24th International Conference on Computational Science
2024, July 2-4, 2024, Malaga, Spain by an invited lecture of J. Mikyška
- Mathematical Modelling Group organizes the visit of special guests from
the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Engineer Research and Development
Center, Vicksburg, Mississippi. At this occasion the
Workshop on Environmental Modeling: Fluid Flow and Transport
Phenomena takes place on Wednesday June 12, 2024.
